Ever since we had our first dog, we already noticed its apprehension to the roar of thunder. When the thunder is severe, the dog would be shaking with obvious fear. Right now, our 3 dogs are terrorized when lightning strikes particularly when the rain is pouring hard (the sound of rain on the roof adds to the torment of our dogs). In those occasions, we herd our 3 dogs to a bedroom and play the radio or tv with loud volume to deaden to noise of the rain and thunder. That always works. However, the dogs want someone to be with them in that room so we have to spend time and also to see how they are coping with the situation.
There hasn't been any thunder lately and even when Clio was still a puppy, she doesn't appear to be disturbed by the loud noises especially during the new year. She's still roam around the house anticipating the treats and handouts she's get from any of the family. She would crawl under the stairs where she usually sleeps and that's just about it. No whining, no shaking and no other unusual behavior. She's her usual happy self.
