Some of the dry food products are being recalled because of the potential for salmonella contamination. Most were distributed across the East Coast of the U.S. The article says Iams announced it on Wednesday (8/14/2013).

Iams Voluntary Recall
I saw that on the news also. I don't feed any of their products, so I don't have to worry about taking anything back for an exchange, which is good. But, often when one company has problems with bad food products, other companies will also have issues, since they often make the dog food for several brands all at one manufacturing plant.
Not only that, but other products made by the same company could also be contaminated, and that might possibly be some of the foods they make for people as well.
The bad dog food can still be sold to other feed companies and re-cooked and made into pig food, or something similar; which is what they usually do in cases like this.
Thanks, Buffy. We do feed our two cats Iams as one of their choices. The bag we have is an older one and almost empty. I'm glad for this heads up for when I shop this week. I hadn't seen it.
