my cat lucca a 2year old indoor cat every morning at his 1st feeding at 5:30 am takes 3or 4 bites of fancy feast then vomits. then he returns to finish his food and is fine all day till next morning , no problem with pm feeding at 4:30
Sometimes cats will vomit when they eat too fast. Is it a wet or dry food? If she vomits and the hard food is still whole then she is probably just swallowing it too fast. She probably isn't eating that fast at night because she wasn't as hungry. My cats sometimes do this when I give them wet food, which is rare. They get so excited that they just eat it as fast as they can and then vomit it back up after a minute. You can try a few things to help prevent this if she is eating too quickly. One thing you can do is get a raised bowl, which will make her eat slower. You can also spread out the food more on a bigger plate. Even trying to give her a smaller portion at first could also help. It sounds like it could be eating too fast to me too. My cat used to have this problem, and what I've discovered is if I just lay a bunch of food out for him all the time, he browses at a good pace for himself and doesn't vomit. I used to feed him at regular intervals twice a day, but he still vomited. I think he got hungry overnight and then got overly excited when I presented him with food in the morning, and subsequently ate too fast. This sounds similar in timing to what your cat is doing, so maybe you could try having a big bowl of food out. I'm not a veterinarian, so if you're concerned, it also couldn't hurt to ask your vet.
