Oh dear! I saw a large dog on a stroller bed the other day at a farmer's market and thought it was so silly. Maybe it has arthritis, but, I thought such a big dog could walk by itself- not like a little dog that might get worn out. My mom told me she once say a bird in a stroller! How ridiculous!
I definitely agree with the bed thing. Almost anything I buy for a pet they don't use. They'd rather sleep on my bed or somewhere random.
As for grooming, some dogs do need to be groomed to keep them healthy- like for their ears.
And treats... I might pay a little more for a specific benefit or if my animal couldn't eat certain ingredients.
I agree with these 5 things. Though my dog needs a coat for the winter because he gets too cold without it (he's a short fur dog), he doesn't get some sort of fancy coat, just a simple cheap one that fits him, is comfortable, and keeps him warm. Same with the beds, we just get cheap comfortable beds for them, especially since when feeling mischievous the dogs like to tear apart their beds, so we'd rather not spend a lot of money on it. We are guilty of spending money on special treats during the holidays, but that's a very rare thing, and we only get a few.
Strollers I think are absolutely ridiculous for your dogs unless your dog was disabled. Otherwise, your dog is supposed to walk, that's what keeps your dog healthy and happy.
My only concern with buying cheap toys is to make sure your pet won't choke on the small pieces. That goes for young children as well. I have bought cheap toys that just got shredded in no time. So, sometimes it is worth the money to buy a more expensive and better quality toy. I buy my male dog (my female dog isn't interested in playing fetch)a good quality ball because the cheap ones won't stand up to his rough play.
For their beds, I haven't bought expensive beds and use old towels for their blankets. They love to snuggle under the towels to go to sleep.
I've never understood the stroller. I think these people are missing having a baby around. Unless the dog is injured and immobile, I don't see a reason for them. I know people will say "my dog is too small to take walks", but I disagree. Every dog likes to get out and smell the pavement and bushes. It is good for them to get this kind of exercise.
OhioTom, I know dogs that love wearing clothes. My brother's Yorkie is one of those dogs. I think as long as they aren't confining, they aren't harmful or uncomfortable. Small dogs sometimes need the extra warmth that clothing provides--as do older dogs. But, there is a difference between a t-shirt, jacket, or sweater worn for warmth and tutus and dresses worn to entertain the owner.
I have to agree with to some of this being an unnecessary expense when ti comes to pets. But some of them could be consider a necessity in some cases. For example people might want to give their pets a nice bed of their own, especially if they are in the home. The same with clothing yes, I agree just dressing a pet for fashion sake is unnecessary, but having a dog wear a coat in the cold winter months can sometimes be necessary for the dogs comfort.
