So my puppy is 9 months old and he seems to be limping in his front-right paw. I inspected his whole leg (including the other 3) and found nothing..but something is definitely up because when he sits upright, he lifts his paw slightly as to not put pressure on it. When I try to inspect him, he starts off by nervously nibbling my hand, then licking it, then just looking worried while I inspect.
We've taken him to the vet and they saw nothing wrong with him, but there wasn't ay x-ray taken..Is there any way we can remedy this without spending tons of money? Would it be okay to just wait it out and see if he improves? My guess is he pulled a muscle or sprained something during his daily adventures, but I could be very very wrong. Anyone have any tips?
This injury hasn't affected his playfulness in any way--he still wants to fetch and run and jump just as much as when he wasn't limping.
How long had this been since you first noticed it? If it has only been a few days, whatever problem he has he might heal on his own if you just wait a little longer. Since the vet couldn't see any problem, and he still plays fine, it shouldn't be anything with bones for sure. It can't be anything too serious.
If the problem doesn't go away, you might want to have the X-ray taken. How much is it for X-ray over there anyway? Can't be that expensive, can it?
He's limped on and off for various reasons. One of which was one time a portion of one of his pads got ripped off. It healed really quick that time, and that was a flesh wound.
This time he's been limping for approx 3 or 4 days. Keep in mind he's 9 months old, so maybe it's growing pains? My girlfriend's mom says 90% of the time a vet will tell you there's really nothing to do for it but give it time. She also said that a lot of times they fake it, but this time it's definitely not fake.
As far as the cost of X-Rays, it cost 400 Euros for 2 photos last time I needed it done on his mother, Sara. At this point it's literally cheaper to put him to sleep, lol. Obviously I won't do that, but it's a bit ridiculous.
Before he was limping, did he play with other dogs? Was he running roughly with others? Is there any chance you might have heard him yelp?
When you touch his leg, does he wince or show that he's in pain? Does he pull it back? When Peanuts was young, she used to have this mannerism or raising her front paw while sitting or standing at a halt. I guess it was because she was a terrier mix.
It might just be a pulled muscle because sometimes play biting can do that. Jumping from the couch can also cause a limp leg (especially if he's small).
If it continues for more than a week, then something is up. Limping due to a pulled muscle only last for a couple of days if not hours.
he may be limps up due to some reason. so first of all you must check and then take any advise.

It's only been 3~4 days. Any small injury could take longer than that to heal on its own. Give a few more days see if he gets better. Don't worry too much.

He plays with his mom, and rough. He's a big puppy (9 months, 80 lbs!) so he plays hard. I never heard him yelp, ut he has had at least 3 other "limping sessions" that lasted a week or more, but they go away eventually. It's really hard to judge because he is not that old...not too much time to compare it with.

Yeah, this is what I figured. It hasn't gotten really any better or worse yet. But at the same time, he still plays like a boss!
And yeah, pet expenses in Amsterdam are absolutely outrageous. It's to the point where its common to get health insurance for your dog because of this. I'm not going to bother doing this, because I have plans to move to Spain in September.
Since you mentioned that he did have a tear on his pad before, the limp could just be a trace memory. If he runs and jumps normally when he's playing, then there might not be anything wrong with him. Are you very sure there is absolutely no swelling, not even a little bit?

If there is swelling, it's not visible to the human eye
So no swelling and he's still playing. Is he even still limping? I mean, the good thing about being a young pup is that the healing process can be very fast and it's as if nothing happened. Their bones may not be as soft compared to when they were a new born to a couple of months old but it can still heal fast as they still in the juvenile stage of their lives.
Speaking of 400 Euros, I'd go bankrupt in a year if vet bills were that high in my country.
