Does this picture look familiar? Yes, it's Pudsey with Ashleigh Butler , his owner, who won the Britain's Got Talent show and became 500,000 gbp (about 780,000 usd) richer. The talented duo has already arrived in Hollywood. And Pudsey has been to the spa already for aromatheraphy. Just 150usd per session. Small change for them.

Do you train your dog with contests in mind? Do you see yourself and your dog basking in the spotlight of fame and fortune?
I love watching trained dogs or any animals for that matter perform! I don't train my pets with competition in mind. A few tricks to gets some laughs and smiles is enough for me. My daughter however trains her goats for fair competition. They score higher if they are obedient and listen to commands. No dancing or anything like that, but they do speak, jog and beg on command. Right now she is teaching one to lead the other on a leash.
Goats, did you say? I have not thought of goats as animals that can be trained to do tricks. The goats that I have seen are usually too frisky to be taught to do anything. I did hear, from one friend, that pigs are very easy to train. According to her, pigs are even easier to train than dogs because they are such gluttons that they are prepared to learn to do anything just for treats.
I get a kick out of these dancing dogs. It must take an incredible amount of time and patience by the owner to get everything worked out so precisely. The dog, of course, must enjoy it.

I don't think I could get my dog do dance. She'll do quite a bit for food, but her attention span isn't all that great.
I just want my dogs to know something... but I guess it's perfectly fine to teach them to dance. After all, it gives them a sense of purpose and at the same more quality time with their humans. Has anybody tried training their dogs for the purpose of joining contests? I just teach mine to accomplish something... and possibly for bragging rights.

I am glad my dogs have a very very long attention span when food is involved (longer than mine). Sometimes, even when I'm no longer into training them, they'll just follow me around hoping I'll ask them to do something else to get them dog biscuits.
