well, one of my favorite females seemed to have a little bit of a mouth infection caused by some old shed? it started real small, and then grew to the point i was concerned, so i did a little research and found out what i should do about it...

here she is when i first got her, infection was very very slight:

heres some pics of what it looked like lastnight that had me concerned:

and heres the treatment process:

letting her soak:

she only soaked about 5 minutes and the nasty yellow thing softened up and came right off, it was much bigger than i expected...

then i took a quetip and put some listerine on it and swabbed the area. it couldnt have tasted good lol. i used to use listerine on the horses to treat or prevent rainrot, which is a similar infection. you can see where the thing came off, its still a little swollen:

and the last step! GIVING HER SOME LOVE! she was such a sweet girl the whole time! other than a bit of squirming, she was soo chill and calm!

i need a name for this girl. like i said, she is one of my favorites and she is too darn sweet to not have a name! i was thinking precious, but then it got me thinking to lord of the rings..and i decided it didnt fit her lol..
In the first photo, your leopard gecko looks like cross eyed. Big Grin

What did you soak her in? Just warm water?

yep, just warm water, i temped it at about 80 degrees so it didnt drop her body temp much Smile
Looks good Manda. I'd be careful with the listerine. I'm not sure what the eucalyptol, menthol, thymol, and methyl salicylate will do to a reptile. Definitely will kill bacteria, but some things have unforeseen side effects. I always keep some form of chlorhexidine around, mostly for mouth injuries.

Now you've given me a quest, I'm going to have to go see if I can fine any info on listerine with reptiles. Big Grin
