More than a few times I have seen cross-eyed animals in the news.
There were cross-eyed ferrets, dogs, cats, rats in the news many times in just 2012.

When an animal is cross-eyed, everyone seems to think they are cuter, and they become stars. When a human is cross-eyed, they don't get the same kind of attention, and certain nobody thinks they are cuter. O_o Why?

Now here is another cross-eyed animal, a cross-eyed cat to be more specific. Check out his photo below,

Do you think cross-eyed pets are cuter or more special than regular pets?
If so, do you think cross-eyed humans are cuter too? Big Grin

P.S. Post some cross-eyed animal photos if you have any. Smile
I think it's because they're funny looking at it makes us laugh. It just looks silly.
I don't think people necessarily think that the cross-eyed animals are cuter just funnier to look at. Especially since it's not something you generally see every day. As for cross-eyed people, I don't know about you but I don't find them funny/cute looking at all nor would I laugh at a picture of one because that's just sad...unless they were making that face on purpose and it wasn't a permanent condition.
I think it's mostly because it's out of the norm. While we don't tend to focus on cross-eyed people as something 'special', we do that with other physical differences in humans. For example, people who are missing a limb and yet still do something incredible.... or midgets.... or people with really interesting colors (like albino or a strange eye color).

We're fascinated by the "weird." When it comes to cats, most are pretty standard and there's not a whole lot of deviation besides color, hair length, and a bit of size differences. To have one that's cross-eyed, though? That seems pretty out of the ordinary. The same goes for a lot of other animals.
I have never seen a cross eyed animal in real life. I actually did not know that there were many out there. I just saw that picture of the ferret, and I have to say, that is cute! lol. They look pretty funny, which makes it cute I guess. I don't know if I would ever want to own a cross eyed pet though- they probably have vision problems and are not able to see where they are going correctly.
I've never seen a cross eyed animal in real life either. I do remember the the opossum from Germany when it was on the news. It did have a cute quality to it. But, when I look at that photo of the cat, I feel sorry for it. It seems like that would be a tiring way to see the world.
I have to admit that they are cute to look at. But to be honest I have never actually seen a cross eye animal in real life. I saw one on an old TV series called Daktari, known as Clarence the cross eyed lion, anyone else remember this? As for why some people like them, well they are unique in appearance and I guess because of that they have a certain type of charm.
