This is a sad story with a happy ending. It shows how much humans love our dogs.

An elderly woman in the Ukraine found herself in a bad situation. When her husband died, her sister-in-law sold the house out from underneath her. She could have moved in with someone, but no one would take her dogs.

So, she took her meager belongings and her dogs and she lived at the local dumps. There she took care of the other strays that passed through.

Somehow her plight became known to a volunteer at a local animal shelter who decided to help the woman. The dogs need help with mange and the woman needed a home. But, she would not be separated from them.

After some thinking, the volunteers at the shelter found the woman a cottage that she could live in with her dogs. The cottage was not perfect. By chance a stranger offered the woman another home. Now she, her dogs, and those she adopted at the dump have a place to live.

Sadly, the shelter itself has fallen on hard times and now it needs rescuing. In the Spring, they will lose the place they have rented for their shelter. Hopefully, some stranger will help them find a place so they can continue their good work.

This is sad story but I'm glad everything worked out OK for the woman. I think its sad that her husband's family treated her so terribly. I hope the shelter who did help her out and her beloved pets get the help they need. They are the true heroes of this story, and assist someone in need, I hope that the community will step forward and help them out now.

I am amazed at the hardship this woman has undergone and the kindness in her heart. Moreover, her family was quite inconsiderate to her. It seems that they're the ones who acted more like animals than the one who's been with Lydia all this time.
