My friend is a vegan and so is her dog! This surprises me so much. He drinks a pint of milk each day, but eats vegetables and fruits for lunch and dinner as she does. He looks healthy, active and is playful.. he seem pretty happy with things as they are.
My dog won't even eat egg when there is no meat. Since, I am not too much of a meat eater there are days when I don't cook meat and she starves herself until I relent and cook fresh meat for her.
Does anyone here have vegetarian dog/s or vegan dogs? Is it okay to do this? How did you train your dog to eat fruits and vegetables?
Please share your views, I would like to know if it is okay to train your dog to become vegetarian?
My dogs eat fruits and vegetables. They especially love carrots but don't mind eating leafy greens, mangoes or even apples. I don't feed them grapes but I do spoil them with carrots sometimes.

Although dogs are able to survive eating fruits and vegetables alone, it's not highly advisable because their digestive system was meant to consume meat. Even though dogs can derive protein from plants, their genetic traits and digestive system is biased for meat consumption. In short, their bodies are optimized to eat meat.

If you want to learn more about the dog's diet, here's an article that would shed some light on this matter. Are Dogs Carnivores — or Omnivores?
I think it's great that your friend wants her dog to be a vegan, just as her. However, I don't think this is safe considering dogs are not like humans. Humans are required to have some sort of meat in their system so I can only imagine what a dog needs. I do not think it is safe but then again I am not an expert. I would definitely speak with a physician just to be on the safe side before making any decisons.
