Too much salt for dog? - Karen May Jones - 12-20-2012

Hi, I was wondering if there is too much salt in people food to give to a dog. My moms dog loves fried chicken, but she buys it already prepared and I know it has a lot of salt (and I don't know what else?) in it. She usually gets a chicken breast or breast tenders for him. She does not give him bones.

Sometimes I cook some chicken breast for the dog in the microwave, but I dont put any seasoning on it.

Is it okay to give the dog fried chicken bought out prepared?

What if I fry the chicken in canola oil and put only some flour on it?

Is it okay to give it microwaved chicken, no additives? Seems like that would be okay, right?Huh

Too much salt is not even healthy for humans. It is certainly not good for dogs. Fried chicken or fried anything in general is also not healthy food if you eat them too often. Why not just boil it in water or cook it in the oven or microwave it with nothing added at all?

You can also feed the dog raw chicken legs, raw chicken breast, raw chicken wings. Dogs are certainly capable of eating chicken raw, and some people said it is a better diet if you feed them raw meat.

Yes, boiling it is a good way. this would offer us some good broth while we are at it. Yes, fried chicken is the devil, I know Smile I guess her being single (widowed & near 70), she does it for convenience. I often make him chicken in the microwave. So, a couple of times it was pink, where it was so thick. So this pink/raw part of the chicken is not a problem for the dog, then? I'm glad to hear this!! I feel so guilty Sad
