Do you detox your pet? - remnant - 06-16-2016 Just like us fellow mortals, pets accumulate waste products of metabolism and free radicals in their bodies. Nowadays, there is a tendency to rely on ready made pet food bought from stores. In most cases, this food is not organic and has preservatives like bromates which are treated by the body as toxins. There have been cases of recall of pet food due to contamination and thousands of pets are paid to have died. One challenge of a detox programme for a pet is that most aren't veggie lovers especially dogs and fasting them is out of the question as it would amount to torture. But I believe there are products and programmes out there that are geared towards the same. Is there anybody out there who has a strategy or know of products that can detox pets to improve their health and longevity? RE: Do you detox your pet? - Corzhens - 06-16-2016 Even before reading that detoxification of pets, we already have a herbal concoction that we ourselves cook. It is a combination of 3 leaves - sambong, banaba, lemon grass. The sambong is preventive and curative of kidney stones which is a prevalent disease of small dogs. The banaba is a diuretic that is friendly to kidney and bladder as well. The lemon grass is the detox part that eradicates cholesterol. It's actually a long story that started in 1996 when I had my first kidney stones that were removed and then it recurred and removed again and for the 3rd time the stones came again. But this 3rd occurrence in 2006 was kind of controlled by that concoction. So until now my kidneys are doing fine. In 2012, Epoy our pekingese, died of renal failure. There was blood in his urine some months before his death, clearly the culprit was kidney stones. So now what's good for me - the concoction that I drink 3x a week - is also good for my dogs. We give them that concoction everyday as part of the detox. RE: Do you detox your pet? - Novelangel - 06-30-2016 I like what Corzhens had to say and I may want to try her suggestion myself. What I like to use for detoxing my pets is colloidal silver, which can just be dripped into their water dish with a glass eye dropper... as long as the dish itself is not made of plastic or metal, that is. Glass works best for keeping the silver particles intact, so I use glass bowls for my pets and they can't tell the difference in the taste because colloidal silver just tastes like water anyway. Also, there are pet detox products that we can purchase but quite often I've found that they are more geared for certain conditions rather than treating the whole animal. For example, you may find a product that is meant for urinary tract health, or digestive health, things like that. I think it's more uncommon to find an overall health product for cats or dogs. The stuff can be very expensive too, outrageously so, in fact. Of course, there is also the line of thought that if it aint broke... don't fix it. But I do tend to think of preventive therapies for my pets because vet bills are horribly high even for the simplest problems. No matter how much it costs to buy detox products, the vet bills cost more. |
