Are there any species of pets that terrify you? - Rube - 03-16-2013 I can't think of any species of pet that I would not be able to handle. I would have no problem with a rat or a snake. Although I don't like spiders, I think I could stroke one of those huge hairy ones, and even have one sit on my hand. I might be less happy with a smaller spider. Do snakes or spiders scare you, or are there any other types of pet animal that gives you the shivers? RE: Are there any species of pets that terrify you? - 4sweed - 03-17-2013 If I had to pick a type of snake that terrifies me, and would only be if I was trapped by it with no escape it would be the vipers, the deadly snakes that one bite and your dead. I am not crazy to be around the rattlesnakes or coral snakes, but those ones from India or South America, would make me very nervous to be around. I suppose it started when my sister started screaming in the bathroom when I was a kid and we saw that there was a snake there around 2 feet long. It was probably a fluke as the suburb we moved in was newly cleared and construction for other houses in full swing but it left a lasting impression. RE: Are there any species of pets that terrify you? - suzjbibby - 03-20-2013 Spiders and bugs! just the thought of a spider on me makes my skin crawl and I'm not fond of bugs particularly either. I would have no problem handling snakes and lizards, I just visited someone yesterday that had several snakes in cases in his living room, they were quite fascinating RE: Are there any species of pets that terrify you? - Buffy - 03-21-2013 I love dogs but I do fear loose dogs. I got a shepherd once from the shelter who was the sweetest dog but one time a friend from church came over and all of a sudden he went wild and went after her. Luckily she ran in the bathroom and slammed the door shut as I was trying to hold him back. It was very scary. The only thing we could figure later is that it was my friend's "time of the month" and somehow the dog sensed it and it had an effect on him. She had been over a couple of times before and this didn't happen. So now I don't go out walking anymore, thinking some dog might be loose and also unpredictable and just not like the way I look or walk or whatever. Like I'd never touch a rat, or probably a spider, but they don't actually terrify me. Now I do get a little shaky around a few big dog breeds ever since I was attacked by one when I was about 8 but it's a subconscious thing and I get over it quickly when I'm around them. RE: Are there any species of pets that terrify you? - ReneLeBeau - 06-01-2013 I used to be really afraid of dogs a couple of years ago, but luckily I got over that I'm really terrified of any kind of snake, spider or bug. I don't know what is it about them that makes me shiver. I guess it just people and the media around me who always portray them as something strange and scary, my fear of dogs came from the same place. I would probably get over eventually it if I was friends with someone who had a snake or a spider. I'm very slowly working on my fear of bugs, whenever I see a bug in my home I try to catch it and let it outside. The more often I have to do it, the easier it becomes, but if a while passes between bugs I'm back to the beginning. I still can't go anywhere near a spider. |
