Not to sound like a "dog with a bone" here, there are way too many dogs born. Over 800,000 every day!

Are those numbers of dogs and humans born per day for the U.S. only?
I thought for sure I had heard of "one baby every second in the world" when I was a kid.

Yeah, I agree people shouldn't breed pets if they don't plan to take care of the offspring.
I thought cats were a problem. There were even stories of people feeding their cats birth control pills because they would always go out and come back pregnant with god knows who the daddy is.

Ah, Dakota, as usual you are brilliant. AKC in no way means breeding quality. If people would only research before they jump in with both greedy feet. Also the shelter bashing makes me so very angry. I am willing to bet many of the shelter bashers are guilty of breeding Fluffy and Fido. Get on your soap box all you want. The more the "right stuff" is out there, the better chance it will reach someone!! You have given me an idea for another post or two!
Ram8349, yes they are all from the U.S. I wanted to say but had to cut some of my text as it would not all print. A few things had to go. I am glad you ask to clarify. While those are the numbers in the U.S. I know from talking to friends in the U.K. they have the same problem there. I don't know their numbers but they do have the very same overpopulation problem.
