Does Your Dog Like Apples? - Oscar - 12-03-2013

A few days ago I read a blog post about the benefits of feeding apples to your dog, therefor, I tried to feed apples to my Labrador retriever, only to find out that he does not have a taste for apples.

Does your dog like apples?

Is there a way I could trick my dog to eat apples?

My dogs LOVE apples! My dogs loves apples, melon, cherries, blueberries and especially bananas! They also love green peppers and carrots. I actually gave them a piece of pineapple today to see if they liked it and they most certain did. I think my dogs just love food. I try to give them natural treat instead of treats you get from places like Walmart. Just remember, never give dogs chocolate, grapes, nuts or onions because they are never toxic to dogs. Otherwise, explore you will be surprised what your pup might find tasty.

Yes, my dog likes apples! It wasn't an easy ride thought, since at first she was very doubtful what it came to apples. I've noticed that my dog is not that keen to eat fruits or vegetables of any kind which may sound weird but I'm not so sure. Yes, if she doesn't get anything else for a treat she'll eat whatever you hand out for her, but if she has an option to pick up something else she will. My dog is after some meat and I'm not the one to complain since I'm just like her, haha! I prefer meat and other good-tasting stuff over "healthy" foods which is not good for me but what can I do for my preferences. It's bad to give your dogs too many treats though, that's why I've started to try not to feed her that much since she has been gaining weight rapidly.

Oops! This goes without saying. Dogs are generally averse to sugary fruits, apples included. I have only occasionally found my pet nimbling at ripe bananas with some concealed disgust. The only fruits my pet cherishes are avocados. I have discovered that he has a proclivity for cooked fruits regardless whether they are sugary or not. Dogs are generally tolerant of different foods in the evening which they seem to usher with vim.

We used to give our dogs chestnuts, apples and grapes during Christmas season (that's the only time we have those treats). But when I learned that grapes is not good for dogs, we stopped giving them fruits just to be safe. With roasted chestnuts, our dogs like it but with apples, I remember that only 1 of our dogs sampled it. Now it's only chestnut that we give our dogs. I didn't know that apple has healthy properties for dogs.

My Clio will eat anything, including apples! I have apples chilling in the fridge and if she saw me taking out one, she'd get all excited. Watery fruits are very good for dogs since it helps them keep hydrated especially now that it's very hot here. The fiber also helps in their digestion. She'd also eat watermelon and oranges. I take very good care that no seeds ever passes her mouth since they are toxic to dogs.
