Do you trust online pet pharmacies? - TreeClimber - 03-04-2014 My dog takes a sedative before veterinary visits. Last week, I needed a refill but our veterinarian was all out of the small size of this medication (the larger mg. was too large to cut down to the right dose). I did some research locally but couldn't find a human pharmacy that sold this medication. I decided to look on the web. I must admit that the array of choices is daunting. There are many places that sell pet medications. It made me skeptical that some are legitimate. I eventually found a couple websites that I had done business with before. I also had one recommended by a relative. I noticed that some specifically state that they are certified and what states or countries that certification applies to. That made me feel a bit more comfortable. At least, that is something one can look into. I've heard all the bad news about human pharmacies. I wouldn't doubt that there are those trying to dupe pet owners too. Do you trust online pet pharmacies? If you have to order online, how do you decide which to use? Does your veterinarian give you a list of approved websites? RE: Do you trust online pet pharmacies? - Happyflowerlady - 04-24-2014 I used to buy most of my pet and livestock medications from Jeffers pet company; but I think that now they only sell the non-prescription medications like worm medicine and pet vitamins. I think that there are still some places online that do sell regular prescription medicines though. Valley Vet Supply is an excellent company, and they have been in business now for many years. I think that you can go online and order, or you can request a catalog from both Valley Vet Supply as well as from Jeffers Pet . There are probably other companies that are reputable, and if they offer to mail out a catalog, and have been in business for more than just a year or two, then it would be perfectly safe to order your medication online.
