How dogs react to our smell. - Happyflowerlady - 03-22-2014

I just read a really interesting article. We all know how happy our dog is to see us when we come home, and also that dogs have a keen sense of smell; but what I had never herd before is that when a dog smells your scent, it activtes the "reward center" of his brain. Apparently, it is only the scent of his owner, whom he has bonded with, that activates this particular area of the brain.
When he smells other people and dogs that he knows, he identifies their scent; but it doesn't reach the same area of their brain.
