This debate has been going on for a long time among breeders and vets. I have been a breeder for around four years now, and I have successfully delivered and brought up around 10 litters, which makes me quite an authority in the matter. I still don't have a fixed answer though. I believe the best thing to do is go with your gut feeling. Lets say a female has totally refused to breastfeed her young ones, and you have relied on formula for around three weeks. The best thing to do is to start feeding the puppies on puppy food as soon as they strt lapping. But that's just my opinion, so I am eager to hear what others have to say.
