Kongs - haopee - 06-14-2012 We just got our first Kong as a present from my sister. I have always wanted the original one but it costs more than most of the toys being sold in our country. Kong "beehives" can range from $10-$30 while most latex squeaky toys only cost $5 and up. Does you dog have a Kong? Share your Kong experiences. RE: Kongs - TreeClimber - 06-14-2012 We had a Kong bone made to put a treat in each end. Misha loved it. Unfortunately, her dog cousin came over and got so excited about it that she bit it in half. I haven't had a dog that likes the beehive shaped Kongs. My brother's dogs love playing with them though. By the way, Misha loves those mini-tennis balls. The squeaker gets her excited. They are small enough that she can pick them up. I have to be careful because she will throw them back at me. LOL RE: Kongs - tajnz - 06-14-2012 We brought our dogs a small red kong toy years ago. I liked the idea that you could put treats or a special spread inside it. However our dogs weren't that interested in their Kong and preferred their cuddly squeaky toys. The Kong ended up unused and ignored. However I do know of some people whose dogs love playing with their Kong, so it depends on the dog in question. RE: Kongs - Ram - 06-14-2012 Putting treat in the toy? Something like this dog treat ball? RE: Kongs - haopee - 06-15-2012 (06-14-2012, 10:18 PM)Ram Wrote: Putting treat in the toy? Something like this dog treat ball? Well, the Kong treats are stuffed inside the beehive and only a little portion of it is exposed. And although Kong recommends their specially made treats to be stuffed inside of it, you can still use other treats. The Everlasting Treat Ball in the link needs refills, but according to the reviews they're durable (and that's always a good sign). I've seen a dachshund ruin her "beehive" because she got too excited of chewing it. RE: Kongs - TreeClimber - 06-15-2012 You can put treats in a Kong. Some people mash them and freeze them in the Kong. Then the dog can occupy themselves trying to lick it out. It seems quite messy to me. My dog's favorite Kong is the Goodie Ship. Though, hers is a bit thicker than the ones I've seen online. I can stick a soft treat in it and she will work for several minutes trying to lick it out. I call it a puppy pacifier. |
