I was looking at talking parrot videos today and came across this talking Eclectus. Since I also have an Eclectus, I really got a kick out of this one. My Eclectus has a deeper, stronger voice though. One of these days I need to make a video of him!

He does change the tone of his voice quite often. He'll go deeper to imitate my husband's voice or higher for my voice (I have a pretty deep, throaty voice though). He also has my blood-curdling scream down pat. He hears me screaming when I see a spider, so he really liked the sound and quickly picked up on that! Dodgy

Very neat. I would like to get either an eclectus or an african grey one day. I just really don't have the time right now to spend with one. And they aren't really animals you can leave alone much of the time.

We were torn between an Eclectus and an African Grey. We decided on the Eclectus in the end because the males are very laid back, lovable and friendly. The greys can latch on to one favorite person and not care for another in the family. We wanted a bird who would love us equally. Also, the ekkies are known for being very gentle (males are) and even when they're upset with you, they will normally give you a warning shove or two before they bite (if you don't take the hint!). Though the red female ekkies are so strikingly beautiful, we wanted the gentler male. Females in the breeding age can be quite nasty, even to their green ekkie mates! Our bird is a real doll. Very good natured most of the time, except at bedtime. He hates being shut in his cage for bed.

Aww... so cute! Ekkies are gorgeous, both the males and the females. That's so funny that your ekkie can imitate both your voice and your husband's voice! My Buzzy can't imitate our voices, but he does a pretty darn good imitation of my husband's sneeze (and he does it to greet my husband, lol).

jenb, that cracks me up about the sneezing imitation! Why is it that birds love to hear us sneeze?!?! LOL! Both of our birds imitate our sneezes, especially my husband's since his is VERY LOUD and he does 5-6 in a row at a time! They LOVE it when he sneezes! Then they both have to sneeze too! Today I sneezed and my Quaker also had to sneeze. Usually the ekkie won't bother with my puny sneezes. He likes the husband's! :-)
They also like my hubby's cough and will imitate that.

At night, they each have a low pitched "good night" and "goodbye" and a higher pitched one. The ekkie especially likes using the higher pitched one - too cute! :-)
