question about hamsters - leelawd - 07-08-2012

iv only ever owned female hamsters before and im pretty sure on this but i just want to make sure incase i am wrong,

on the male hamster the 2 lumps right at the back under its body .. those are the boy 'parts' so to say arent they? i just want to make sure it isnt some sort of tumour or anything since iv only owned female hamsters before.

and also.. what would you guys recommend on the regularity of cleaning the cage and refilling his food bowl?

Do you have a photo? Not sure what exactly "lumps" you are talking about.
There is a good chance it's just his boy's parts. Big Grin

Regular cleaning is recommended. Do not always leave food in the food bowl. Just give enough for a meal, and refill before the next meal.

We did it twice a week when I was a kid and that always seemed to be enough. Probably could have gone an entire week but it would start to smell.
