i need help starting fishless cycle - 90001_los_angeles_ca - 07-17-2015

I am trying to start a fishless cycle on my five gallon tank so i can put atleast 6 white clouds in it since i heard they were great beginner fish any advice on how should i do it with tss or should i just do it the natural way.. i have a tetra pf10 power filter with carbon bio bag cartridges and a fusion air pump.. Do i remove the carbon or it will do just fine with the carbon or will the carbon slow my cycle ..what would i need... thank you..

Activated carbon has minimal effect on the fishless cycling. However you can replace it with other pads to increase the filtration.

The safest way is to cycle the aquarium with ammonia instead of fish. It is also faster. To make it happen, you need a source of ammonia and a water test kit.
