Security cat vs. Raccoon - Ram - 08-06-2012 I just found this video showing a raccoon entered a home, then the house cat reacted. Would you like to know the result? Check out the video below. What was on the cat's mind? My guess is "It's my turf". RE: Security cat vs. Raccoon - lhins - 08-07-2012 That's a great clip. I'm glad they caught it on camera now all the other raccoon will have a heyday making fun of him because he got chased out by a kitty. RE: Security cat vs. Raccoon - Thor - 08-07-2012 I am not familiar with typical size of a raccoon. Are they supposed to be bigger than cats? In the video, the cat looks to be the same size as the raccoon. It's either a very big cat, or a very small raccoon. RE: Security cat vs. Raccoon - laurasav - 08-08-2012 We've been feeding an extended family of raccoons for years now. They're a little bigger than an average cat, typically. I loved the video - especially since I'm in love with coons and have three house cats! LOL! I'd love to make a house pet of one of these coons. My favorite one is a crippled raccoon with lots of battle scars. He's a darling to me and always comes to the doorwall, looks in at me, and waits until I wave to him. Sometimes I'll get up and then we touch paw to hand through the glass. I really love that coon! But I know they can be incredibly destructive. Our big DSH cat hates the coons and will try to "fight" them through the glass of the doorwall if they get too close. He's very territorial. Our other 2 cats don't mind the coons coming around. The Bengal and the coons are curious of each other. The coons try to touch her sometimes through the glass and she just sits there like the regal princess she is. Anyway, these homeowners are lucky they have a security cat in their house that was on guard this particular night! Great video!!! RE: Security cat vs. Raccoon - JustJenne - 09-03-2012 Wow. I wonder if it has happened before, considering they recorded it. That is one tough cat though, must have felt pretty confident knowing that's his house. Our cats have gotten into fights with raccoons and the result is not pretty. Even our rooster once got in a fight with a raccoon. My grandma feeds the raccoons at her house with dog food and one night when staying up there in their trailer I heard them hissing at each other. They make some nasty noises! I had always thought of them as cute, but, they are rather viscous. RE: Security cat vs. Raccoon - CinnamonBear - 09-05-2012 I saw this one the other day, and loved it. Thanks for sharing it here! I must say, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought that someone was teaching a raccoon to be a watchdog! Raccoons absolutely love cat food, so this little fella was probably breaking in to nab some Fancy Feast! RE: Security cat vs. Raccoon - laurasav - 09-09-2012 I never tire of watching this video! I even posted it to my Facebook wall, because it has become a favorite of mine. I know the raccoons we feed really love cat food, like CinnamonBear said. If my cats are rejecting their bowl of cat food, mostly because there's lots of crumbs (must be stale?) and they just don't want to eat anything in the bowl, I'll throw their food outside. The coons always go directly to that, before anything else I leave for them, and gobble it up! Funny how spoiled a house cat can be when other animals seriously appreciate the very food that the cats reject! Remember how our parents always told us to eat our dinner, even if we hated it, because there were starving children in China? I should tell my cats they'd better eat up their cat food because there's plenty of starving raccoons that would love to have it! LOL |
