Nitrogen cycle is one of the most important yet the most overlooked knowledge every fish keeper must have before getting into the fish keeping hobby. Fishless cycling is highly recommended before getting any fish at all.

Fish produce ammonia as waste, and ammonia is toxic. Without having the aquarium completing a nitrogen cycle, the fish will very likely die to ammonia poisoning with weeks.
