Pet Nutritionist – Experiences? - truongthanh - 11-17-2015

Hello!

I have a Pug with a mixed bag of issues and have been on a specially formulated home-cooked diet from a local University per the recommendation of my home holistic vet and our specialist for over 9 months. There are many issues and concerns that I have about the diet. I’m looking for an independent nutritionist at this point, because of the awful experiences of dealing with the UT and the diet not being as personalized as I would like it to be.

Has anyone used a Pet Nutritionist? Have anyone to recommend? Good or bad experiences? Any advice?

Thank you!!

Honestly, I've never heard of a pet nutritionist. I wasn't aware that people like this existed. I know that vet technicians can offer sound advice for your pet's diet and nutrition. That is basically what my friend does during check ups and such. She works for a Vet Clinic and examines everything prior to the Veterinarian coming in. She has given me advice after seeing my dog and it worked perfectly. She has even given me pamphlet information about nutrition and care for my pets. I'm wondering if his is what you're looking for or are pet nutritionists a real thing? I don't know why, but it seems so crazy to me.

When Epoy, our first pekingese got kidney stones, he was prescribed the KD dog food. But since that dog is used to eating table food, we would heat the dog food in the toaster for 5 minutes so the taste would be different and the dog would eat it. And with his other meals, the usual is boiled fish or boiled pork although sometimes we give him broiled fish which our dog likes very much and roasted pork as well.

What is the reason for the special diet of your dog? Diet is on a case to case basis. If your dog has a kidney problem too, maybe you can feed your dog with what I have enumerated above.
