Bug  Dog Treats Recall:Boots and Barkley again
Quote:October 17, 2012 – Kasel Associated Industries of Denver, CO is voluntarily recalling its Boots and Barkley Roasted American Pig Ears and American Variety Pack Dog Treats product because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Source

This is another Boots and Barkley recall. I am noticing a trend with the Boots and Barkley treats. Maybe it's just a bad lot but nonetheless, salmonella is dangerous.

So, if you've bought Boots and Barkley Roasted American Pig Ears and American Variety Pack Dog Treats, make sure to check your date or purchase. These are the ones delivered to Target stores this August 2012.

RE: Dog Treats Recall:Boots and Barkley again
Wasn't their trouble with these treats earlier this year? Maybe I have it confused with the Milo's Kitchen dog treat. Those killed a couple of dogs in California. I don't buy Boots and Barkley treats for my dog, so I guess I'm okay on this one. But, I will pass it around.

I'd like to think that the reason we hear of so many recalls is because the law has change and companies are being more careful. However, I'm not sure if the law for mandatory recalls applies to dog/cat items. Does anyone know?

I don't buy dog treats. I have read one too many news reports on really scary ingredients that find their way into them. Perhaps our laws are too lenient with these types of products which explains all the news reports I've been seeing. I prefer to give my chow real chicken as a treat every now and then. Honestly it's even cheaper than the doggie treats and my dog loves it!

It seems like there are just a lot of dog food and dog treats being recalled these days, ad more and more of the ingredients are being shipped here from China, where there is not enough regulation of things, especially food products. They have had some serious cases of people being poisoned from ad food over in China, as well, it we just don't hear about those things much over here, so we don't know what is really happening.

Also, if a food is recalled, say for salmonella. , then that food can be re- cooked enough to kill the salmonella, and reused again. A lot of the dog food that was contaminated and killing dogs, was simply resold, cooked again, ad mixed onto food for pigs to eat. Then, the pigs are made into food for people to eat, and the scraps are made into pet food.

We are recycling poisoned food to make money for the pet food companies.

Boots and Barkleys, Waggin Treats and the post I just posted about the hazards of Benefull dog food. Can we feed our dogs anything from the stores anymore? By the way, here is the link about Benefull:
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/beneful.asp

I can tell you that my dogs will eat almost any dry dog food, but they won't touch O'Rileys dog food. (It's something like that. It is the cheapest brand at Walmart.) I have often wondered why they won't eat it since I checked the ingredients and they seem similar to other dog food ingredients.

I know Blue Mountain dog food seems to be their favorite. I buy that one at a horse feed store. A little more expensive, but they like it.
