R.I.P. Sped </3
well, my little sped passed away while i was on vacation. im soo angry i wasnt here because it must have been a horrible long death Sad on friday i had gotten an urgent text from my mom, containing a picture of sped...with his organs hanging out. he was dying fast. i told her to euthanize him immediately using the fastest method possible, there was no way he'd make it to the vet and he didnt need to suffer. she chose to put his tub in the cold dark basement and let him "fall asleep" -.- im not sure how long it took the poor guy to finally take his last breath, but all i know is he suffered immense pain that he shouldnt have.

i had gotten a couple opinions from people and the one that was almost undeniable was that he was shedding, had a stuck piece of shed on his side, and because of his balance problem, he may have ripped off more than he asked for, tearing himself open.

i am most upset about this because he was the first gecko i had ever raised from an egg, and although he had issues, he was a favorite. also the fact i was not here to deal with the situation properly.

he hatched august 13th, didnt even make it to a year old Sad

I am so sorry to hear that.

I had no idea that simple shedding can be potentially dangerous and deadly to little lizards like leopard gecko. Torn himself open?? Is it common or rare during shedding?

Rest in peace, Sped. Angel

By the way, how are the siblings of Sped?

I know it's a bit late, but what a heartbreaking post. He was certainly a cute little guy. He had really gorgeous markings. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can tell that you really loved him and gave him the best possible life you could while he was here, and that's what really counts.
