Has PETA gone overboard on this one??
I am totally against any kind of cruelty to animals, and I think that organizations that help us to understand what kind of unhumane treatment that some animals are receiving, is basically a good thing.
Still, I think that this latest idea that peta has come up with is definitely missing the mark of what they are trying to accomplish.

There was an accident in Utah where a semi-truck and trailer accidently went off the road, and into a river running beside the road. The truck was carrying a load of turkeys to the packing house, so when the truck and trailer went over the bank and crashed, many of the turkeys were killed; some escaped when the crates broke, and others were trapped in the water and were rescued.
So now, peta wants to erect a monument on this spot in memory of the turkeys that were killed in the accident. The monument will encourage people to become vegans so that turkeys will not have to suffer.
These turkeys were on their way to be butchered anyway, so it is not like they would have lived much longer in any case.

It is my opinion that the money peta wants to spend on creating and erecting this monument could be better spent feeding hungry animals or sheltering them.
