Oscar's
I had two Oscar's in a 55 gallon fish tank since they were tiny. They grew to be quite large and seemed to be healthy and happy. We had left for a weekend and came home to find our Oscar had jump out of the tank and flopped into the living room, where he died! Sad The fish tank had a lid on it and everything. Has anyone ever experienced these crazy fish?

RE: Oscar's
55 gallon is the bare minimal for 1 adult Oscar.
75 gallon tank is the recommended minimal tank size for 1 adult Oscar.
If you have a pair of Oscar, 90 gallon is the recommended minimal, but 125 gallon or higher is the ideal size.

These fish need a lot of filtration too. Double the filtration as if you would have other fish in the same tank.

Many fish species will jump out of the water occasionally. It is more than likely they will jump to their deaths if the fish tank is not covered or not properly covered. So far none of my fish had jumped out of the tank yet, only one Zebra Nerite Snail had crawled its way to his own doom from an opening (for the filter) less than 1 square inch.
