From experience, the canned kitten foods work well. I always try to get them to hard food quickly, so I like the trick of soaking some in a little warm milk. And most kittens really like it. Then start to cut back on the milk, and leave a bowl of dry food available for him to nibble on. Then give the moistened food &/or canned food once a day. You will have to watch him, and see what he likes more, and if there are any adverse reactions.(i.e. Diarrhea). At a certain age, too much milk can give them digestive problems.
The good quality dry foods are very good for their teeth in the long run, so I try to keep them from expecting canned, wet food constantly.
