A dog was killed trying to save his owner from a train
Dogs are known for their loyalty to the owners.

Recently I came across some heart warming stories of very loyal dogs.

Story 1 -
A dog in Russia pulled his suicidal & drunk (probably from vodka) owner off the train tracks, but the dog was instantly killed as the train was unable to stop on time. The owner was only injured and he was taken to the hospital. I hope he should at least stop being suicidal, or the dog's life was wasted.

source news

Story 2 -
A dog in China refused to leave his owner's grave site. He was discovered a week later at his owner's grave without having any food since the funeral. Someone brought him food and water which saved him from starvation, but Whatever the villagers tried, the dog always returned to the grave. They ended up had to build a kennel near the grave site.

Source story.

In the same story, a Skye Terrier in Scotland who returned to his owner's grave every day for 14 years. Eek I don't think there is even any human do that when they lost their family members.

What other loyal dog stories have you heard of?

Just Another Hachiko Story...
You've probably heard of Hachiko, the dog who waited for the Japanese professor in the bus stop his entire lifetime.

There's also the story of Hawkeye, who stayed by his master's side during the funeral.

The latest I have heard of is about a dog named Capitan, who was owned by Miguel Guzman. Miguel Guzman died in 2006 and Capitan stayed by his grave for that long a time. The cemetery director noticed Capitan wondering the cemetery everyday. He and his staff eventually begun feeding and taking care of the dog. He also says that at 6 o'clock sharp, Capitan would lie down on top of Miguel Guzman's grave and stays there all night.

These stories are great to hear and very inspirational. I have never heard of a dog loving their owner so much that they would risk their own lives to save them. This should be a lesson to those who want to mistreat their animals; they should know that these animals are more than animals, they are like family. The next time people criticize someone for treating their dog like a human, I would say you're right about this dog not being human, he/she is more than a human. Most humans are not loyal and they will hurt you in a second but to claim to love and care for you. When a dog loves their owner, it's genuine and I love it. I'm in the process of getting another dog and I hope to find one just as courageous as these dogs were. May they rest in paradise.

The third story is quite famous and the dog was known as Greyfriars Bobby. The story is that after the owner died the dog used to lay on the grave each day and was looked after by the local people. However it came to light more recently that the original Bobby had died and by that time the locals were cashing in on the story because Bobby had visitors who used to stay in the local Inn. When the original Bobby died they found a replacement for him to keep the story going and the funds in their pockets!

The most tragic dog story of this kind has to be the tale of Gelert. The story goes that the master left his son with the hound whilst he was out hunting and when he returned he found the baby had been killed. He saw blood on the hounds mouth and drew his sword and killed the dog as he thought it had murdered the baby. He then found the body of a wolf next to the babies crib and it become obvious that the hound had been protecting the baby. The dog owner was so upset by what he had done that he buried the dog is a special grave and in fact the village was then later named after the faithful hound.

What sad yet at the same time inspirational stories of a dog's loyalty. I hope the owner in the first story got their act together, and realized that their dog loved them enough to sacrifice their own life for him. I have heard before the stories of dogs who have refused to leave their owners graves. These can be heart breaking but still show you the loyalty and love that these dogs had for them.

That is so sad to read bout... But it also helps us remember why they are put here. Dogs are supposed to be men's best friend for a reason. And even though w come home from work and have bad days or just bad days in general they still love us.

I have also watched movie Haichiko and this film had brought me to tears throughout the whole length.
I have always been aware how dogs are one of the most loyal pets you will ever have and this movie just opened up my eyes
more about this fact. The story was spectacular and it always gets me over emotional on the bond that is between a pet and the pet owner.
It really is so precious to me every time I hear of something like this.

RE: A dog was killed trying to save his owner from a train
I was reading a story recently about a family that had a farm Ozark mountains. They had gone off to a meeting and left one family member home with the dogs. This woman had been outside in the garden when they left, but had planned to come in to watch tv, till they got home.

When the family arrived back home, their front door was standing wide open, but the relative was no where to be found. As they searched the yard they discovered her body torn-up with long scratches and big open wounds.

Since nothing else had been disturbed the father in shock, thought his dogs had done it, and preceeded to shoot two of his big dogs dead. When the police arrived and then the medical examiner, who told him not to shoot anymore dogs as it had been a cougar that had killed the woman. I guess it caused him grief for years because the police filed the report as the woman being killed by a dog attack.

A year or so later, off the record the game commission quietly admitted to importing cougars from California, for a so called restocking effort. Up until this time they had refused to admit there were any cougars in the area.

The family now lives in terror of stepping outside their door without a gun in their hands, as the game commission threated legal action if any of these so called non-existent cougars were killed. The father had reasoned the dogs had gotten out of the house and chased the cougar away though it had been to late to save the relatives life.
