RE: What do you do with your pets when you are traveling?
When I travel for work, I board my dog with my vet. He's an elderly dog, so he's not very active and I just don't feel comfortable leaving him anywhere except at the vet. They're very good and since we're long-time customers, over 20 years, we get a great rate for the boarding (less than $10 a day).
My brother's kids have fish, a turtle, 4 dogs, and 2 cats. When they take family vacations, they have a neighbor's teen -- usually one of their kids' friends, take care of the pets with twice-a-day visits. The neighbor's kid has fish too, so his experience helps my brother's fish get well taken care of when they're away.
