The ultimate fish tank ? ?
I just was looking at this youtube video of a fish tank that hangs on the wall, and is in a beautiful frame just like a portrait would be.
I think that this is the most awesome fishtank that I have ever seen ! It is basically self-cleaning, and does not need a lot of maintainence like a regular fish tank does.
It hangs on the wall like a wall-mount television, and looks like a beautiful underwater painting----- and then you can see that the fish are actually real and swimming around.
I would LOVE one of these ! What do you think ?

There is actually no such thing as self-cleaning. Smile
All fish tanks (in the wall or not) require regular maintenance due to the fact fish product the toxic ammonia as waste, and in a well established tank the ammonia is converted to relatively harmless nitrate by the good bacteria developed in the filter media over time. However, nitrate at extremely high level will weaken the fish's immune system and thus making them more easily catching diseases and parasites. Nitrate as well as some other organic waste is not going anywhere even in a heavily planted aquarium. It is why weekly partial water change is highly recommended for optimized water quality for your pet fish.

In my personal opinion, an aquarium mounted in a wall might look cool and save space, but it is not easier to maintain than any other fish tanks. Smile

It looks cool, but in reality it isn't a good idea. Fish tanks ar very heavy. I think that amazing aquarium is with a lot of different fishes, snails and corals. But you should be attentive, nowadays there are a lot of cases when corals are sold with bobbit worms. These worms are very nasty and grow to 10 ft. long. Don't think that you would like to have such neighbor in your room. That's why when I installed new coral rock, I always use coral cleaner. On arcreef.com you can order everything, if you decide to do it
