Patience training
From their infancy, most animals are finetuned to rely on their instincts to navigate through life. There are carryovers from their time in the wild before they were domesticated. Dogs retain the powerful instinct of smell and this is aided by their wet nozzle which dissolves the molecules and its relayed to the brain to detect the smell. However, dogs live among humans in a largely free existence and as such, have to adjust to a certain code of conduct which would involve suppressing their tendencies like impatience. This requires training. I have observed that most dogs have impatience when they are hungry or a tasty delicacy is being served in the vicinity. Some dogs have been known to make a scene by barking loudly or making a scene in order to attract attention. Some even go to the extent of going to the kitchen to grab food albeit surreptitiously. Some pet owners in overboard and punish the animal severely due to the lack of cognizance of the fact that they also have imperfections which they are not aware of. I think the best method would be to train the dog to recognise a sign that you make to signal meal times and adjust this to enable the dogs to respect each other's space at meal times. What do you do to inculcate patience in your dogs?
