A rainy hello from West Virginia
Hello! I just became a new member and I can't wait to start meeting you all. Yes, it is raining here in West Virginia and we have had a lot of it lately. That doesn't get me down though because I love the rain.

I'm going to like it here at Pet Keepers Guide because I love talking with people of like minds. The pets that I have had in the past have been fish, hamsters, turtles, a chicken, a duck, 3 cats, 4 dogs, a squirrel, and a lop eared bunny. I have Molly now, and she is a great companion for me now that I live alone. Mollie is my 3 year old Cocker. She is beautiful with her curly, ginger colored coat and her great personality. She can play like a puppy but usually she is very calm and never barks.

I adopted her about 5 months ago from the local rescue and now we are "joined at the hip". She has really helped me through a rough time and I feel I owe her so much for that. I could go on and on but I'll save some words for other posts. I will enjoy being here and I hope to gain knowledge from you and contribute some as well.

Hope to talk to you soon!

Welcome mollie,

What fish have you had? I am the fish person here. Big Grin
How did you get that squirrel? I'd like to hear some stories about it. Smile I love to hear stories about unusual pets.

What other pets do you currently have beside your dog?

RE: A rainy hello from West Virginia
Hi Ram! When I was quite young, my father and I had an aquarium and kept all the usual fish and, being only six, I thought they were the most unusual creatures I had ever seen. There were Black Mollies, Guppies, lizard named Lizzie, snail (I named Pokie), Siamese Fighting Fish, some kind of Neon fish , and Angel Fish. I'm sure there were more but I don't recall them. At that time, I thought he knew everything there was to know about fish. Together we would watch them being born and Dad would net the fish against the side of the aquarium while she gave birth. I was mesmerized!

Now, the squirrel was really something special. I was probably 11 or 12 years old when my Dad brought Lester home. He had been hunting and found him somewhere in the woods. He was so tiny and frail and had to be fed with a dropper. He survived and grew quickly. I kept Lester's cage by an open window in my room and he would come and go through it. One day, Lester left and never returned. I made up a story, in my mind, that he had met a beautiful female squirrel, fell in love, had babies, and lived happily ever after.
