I use a water fountain for my cats. They don't like still water in dishes. I found out really early that if they didn't have a source of running water they would find it elsewhere(the toilet). The fountain was relatively inexpensive( it only cost around 20) and I decorated the base of it with kitty stickers. I also figured out that my cats don't like it when I place their fountain next to their food, I have no idea why this is. I change the water every other day, and on hot days I add mini ice cubes to it so they can cool down. I also have a fish tank that I catch them trying to drink out of from time to time. Once upon a time they tried to catch the fish but they fell in and I never had that problem again.
