This is a really big issue for pet owners who care about their pets. I have friends and family who're not bad people, but I could never trust them to take care of my cats. None of them have been serious pet owners, and I just couldn't go away worrying that my cats aren't taken care of properly. There are really nice cat hotels out there, but I would be worried how they would react to new people and a new environment. I'm not even completely relaxed at the idea of a pet friendly hotel, I couldn't take them around with me and leaving them alone in the room doesn't seem too different then leaving them alone at home with someone checking on them from time to time. It seems to me that it might be a bit easier with dogs, since they're usually more friendly and a lot more people seem to like dogs. You can also put them on a leash and take them around with you during the vacation, if it's a pet friendly place.
