When and what was your first pet?

When I was a child, my first pet was a improperly cared for aquarium, which was 2.5 gallons and contained 2 neon tetras and 1 betta fish. My parents got one of these aquariums for me, and one for my twin sister. I used to hate doing water changes or taking out the fish when they died, however the water changes now seem like nothing compared to the current 55 gallon and 10 gallon which I run. Still they were a very nice experience as a child. I enjoyed watching them, and they fostered my love for aquariums today.
