Absolutely. They tend to be very responsible here. It's a good idea as well, snakes are not really domesticated animals and still live and hunt by instinct so the behavior of a snake definitely will not be the same as that of a dog or cat.
You're right about taking all the precautions and making sure that we know how to handle them. There's a very experienced vet not far from my place so I guess I'm not that worried if it gets sick. You can never be too careful and I totally agree, safety first, both for the pet and owner. It helps that ball pythons are a fairly docile species and are not as aggressive as other snakes.
