a cute moment between cat and gecko :3
soo, other than my original two geckos, this girl is my favorite out of my 6, and i think she should be the first to name, so i need name ideas! she has two different colored eyes and a dalmatian colored tail. i was thinking something feminine and elegant.

this is my cat, mr. em. his last encounter with a gecko, venus, left him with a sore nose because she bit it...but his faith is restored by this girl <3

Great pictures. It is cute to have them together. I'd be nervous though.
Cats are known for killing over 2,000 species for fun or for food. They aren't exactly lizard safe. Tongue

How long have they been hanging around each other?

That's very cute Manda Big Grin I assume you don't let that go on unsupervised.

Ram, you are right, but it also depends on the actual cat. Of my three cats, the maine coon just doesn't care, the tonk it's curious butconfused, but the male black dsh still had a good chunk of natural "hunter"in him, so he's the one I have to watch out for.

haha, dont worry, i never put my cat with any of the lizards without supervision. he is a hunter, outside that is, but he knows better about my lizards and moms guinea pig. they've only met once, and i was quite surprised because my cat normally runs when he sees me get them out because of the time venus bit his nose..but he was very chill with this one Smile

Have you guys checked out the video in this thread?

It was also about a cat with a pet lizard. I wonder why the video was cut short. Rolleyes

Very cute! It's always interesting to see the interactions between reptiles and mammals. It says on Wikipedia that naturally Leopard geckos are nocturnal -- are your Leopard geckos generally awake during night time or day? It also says that they live in the desert, but here in Florida I associate geckos with water. Does your leopard gecko have water in its habitat?

they may be nocturnal, but theres actually different kinds of nocturnal. some animals are awake all night, but ive noticed my leopard geckos are most awake in the evening, then they nap throughout the night, and are awake again for a bit in the morning. they are from parts of asia, india, and pakistan, ive just learned there a few different subspecies of leopard geckos based on the environment they are found in. most are found in the deserts, but few can also be found in the mountains and the places where trees meet the desert. other than a bowl of water, they do not need any more than that.

That's a really cute picture but I'd be too scared to let a gecko anywhere near a cat! You must be far braver than I am!

I'm in negotiations with my 8yo at the moment because he'd really love a gecko but I have my doubts. The main reason is that his enthusiasm for our hamsters lasted all of a month and I'm not willing to do all the work myself. I think I'm going to wait until he's older and more able to look after it all by himself.

Adorable pictures! I'm always a little wary when it comes to introducing other smaller pets to my cats. However, I had a hamster once that was quite the escape artist and managed to get out one night. I found him later in the morning running down the hall next to one of my parents' 4 cats! He'd made it the entire night without being eaten or harmed in any way so I guess it really just depends on the cat.

Those are great photos! They both seem to be quite curious about what this other creature is.

I see in your other post that this is a supervised situation. I know that cats will catch rodents. Will they also go after reptiles as well? I guess anything that runs might present a bit of a game for them.

Exactly. It looked like what's before a neck bite to me. Icon_eek
There was also no good reason to turn off the camera at that very moment.

Have you ever seen your cat doing anything close to that cat in the video with other animals? Grabbing the neck and... you know.
