I recently got a new job. I have to lock up my Bengal cat in the parrot's room to keep her from being attacked by my evil Tonkinese cat while I'm away. So the other day I get home from work and go to let my Bengal out of the parrot room. I noticed her food dish had fine crumbs all around on the floor by it. I was trying to figure out how in the heck that could have happened, like did she puke, but it didn't look like puke - it was very strange! Then on my way back out of the room I noticed my Eclectus bird was sitting on top of the little carrier cage for my Quaker which is on the shelf underneath his big cage, just a few inches from the floor.
I leave the cage door open for my Eclectus to come and go as he pleases. He always (well, usually!) stays on his play stand on top of his cage if he's not inside playing, eating or sleeping. Obviously, he flew down off the cage and then couldn't figure out how to fly back up and spent who knows how many hours on the floor, hanging out with my Bengal cat. Good thing they've always been good buddies! So that's how there came to be all those fine crumbs of her cat food. The poor parrot got hungry and decided to help himself to her food!
