Question  What is your favorite cat breed?
If there is a favorite cat breed or a bunch of favorite breeds, which cat breed(s) do you like most? And why? Smile

My favorite would be Leopard cat

and Bengal cat.

They just look awesome like mini leopards with their spotted pattern !

For breeds, my favorite is defenitly the Somali. It's a long haired Abasinian, but with a silky, draping coat, not fluffy like a Persian. Close second would be American or British Shorthair in the silver clasic (swirl) tabby pattern. Now, that's my favorites for apearance. For personality, I'll take a Maine Coon; cuddly and mello.

Do you not like Persian cats?

Alley cat. LOL That is the only kind I have ever had. When it comes to cats there are only a couple actual breeds I would know when seen. Siamese and Main Coon, well, and there is Persian. I've never had any of those.

No, I'm not crazy about Persians, or Rex or Sphinx cats. It's just a matter of personal prefence about asthetics. I also don't care for how some breeds have been taken to extremes. I love the traditional Siamese, but the modern Siamese is more of a characture of a cat. For sheer good looks I like a plush coated shorthair Like the British Shorthair. But like I said, for personality, you can't beat a Maine Coon.

Aside from Sphinx (hairless), Rex (short curled coat), and orientals (thin smooth coat) who are sensative to cold, cats are not scared of cold, or hurt by cold, but they are hedonistic; they would much prefer to be warm and comfortable.

I have no idea what breed(s) mine are. If I knew how to get photo's from my e-mail to this site I would show them to you. Some one told me "right click" on the photo to do something but this mouse is wireless and does not have a left/right click....so... we remain without photo's

Lots of cats aren't pure breed. There is no racism among them. So they mix well. :p

You can download photos from email with several ways. Some email have option for you to click "download", and as long as you are not on a mac, you should have a two button mouse.

I think every cat I've had and most of the one's I've rescued are mixed breed. I refer to my Maine Coon as such because he has many of the traits of that breed; He has the boxy muzzle, the huge paws with toe tufts, the large size (though at 16 pounds he's a bit small for a purebred), and the mello nature. He could be a non show-quality purebred, or he could be a Main Coon mix; he just showed up in my yard so I don't have papers for him.

I have always loved the larger cats, as well as the longer haired varieties. I have a big Maine coon, she's my girl. I have been thinking of getting a Bengal or a Savannah for a while. They fascinate me. But my house has as many cats as it needs for the time being, so that will have to wait.

A few years ago, I have seen some videos on youtube about a type of large cat that has unusual long legs. They are also very energetic. People can walk these cats like if they are dogs. They are close to wild though, but that's what people after. I don't recall the name of those cats.

Those are most likely the savanahs. They are a cross of a serval and domestic cats. They like water, very active, and people do walk them. There are people producing them in different combinations, so they are 50% serval (f1's), or then breed that back with a DSH so it's 25% serval, etc...

Ah, "F1". That term sounds familiar when I learned about Savannah cat. It must be them. Thanks for reminding me.

RE: What is your favorite cat breed?
I think bengals are really beautiful. My cat is a bengal mix, and only really has the patterns on her head, but her coloring is so pretty! I did a lot of reading on bengals when I first adopted her, and noticed she has a lot of the mentioned bengal personality traits: She loves to play rough, she's very talkative, and she drinks a ton of water. Sometimes she reminds me of a dog, at least in the way that she's always trying to coerce people into playing with her. Wink

I love Siamese cats as well, because they look so elegant and have great personalities -- always really talkative. My mom's roommate has one, and he is so sweet, with the prettiest light blue eyes. I also think Calico cats are really adorable, though I've never known one in person and I'm not sure about their personality types...

I think all cats are beautiful (well, maybe not the furless ones), but I definitely think I'll stick with plain, old American Short Hairs. They tend to induce less allergies in my experience for some reason, and they also don't have a lot of the health issues that you might find in purebreds. That's just my opinion though.

It's not really a breed, but I've always been partial to tabby cats. I just love the stripes and speckled patterns in their fur. I also love the bi-colored tabbies (the cats that are part white and part tabby), and three of my last four cats have been bi-colored tabbies (the other was an all black cat).

RE: What is your favorite cat breed?
We have a beautiful Bengal. She was a real joy up until the 2 older DSH cats died and we bought a Tonkinese. Since the Tonk came into our lives, he has literally driven the Bengal insane. It's been sad to see her personality change so much. She is better when we lock her in a room of her own, where she doesn't have to worry about anyone attacking her.
Out of the two pure breds we researched and chose to purchase, my favorite is the Tonkinese. I love the look of the wild in our Bengal and her very distinctive voice and big cat personality traits, but my Tonkinese is also beautiful and I love his cuddly, loveable personality (when he's not driving everyone nuts with his devilish stalking & attacking!). When these cats walk the "Rainbow Bridge," I plan to get another Tonkinese. But we will only have ONE cat from now on! No more fighting!

RE: What is your favorite cat breed?
Mutt cats are the most popular as far as how many there are out there and I have one of course but I prefer breeds myself. I wasn't really too passionate about felines until started learning about specific breeds.

Burmese, Abyssinian, Devon Rex and Sphynx are my favorite breeds. I did adore my Bengal but higher ups are for very few people. Mostly I love those breeds because of their more interactive, affectionate, demanding, active and dog like qualities. It could be a problem for some expecting a laid back 'cat attitude' that just hangs out wherever they choose and stays out of the way more often than they are in the way. Many of these breeds are known for things like playing fetch and taking daily walks, tripping you up, stealing objects, and sometimes just being a rambunctious kitten permanently.

I also like the coats, or lack of, on the Devon Rex and the Sphynx breeds but they are also great for homes that can't handle that much kitty fur flying and that the breeds are suited for. I also have owned hairless rats, hairless guinea pigs and like the hairless chinese crested (after 3 Italian Greyhounds needing specialized care I am not ready for another fragile breed) as well so the hairless thing has been known to be something I enjoy but really it's just an added bonus.

My favorite breed of cat is the Savannah, but I don't own one because they're $8,000 to $22,000 to buy. I like how tall and slender and graceful they are.

My favourite breed is the Maine Coon. It's that huge cat, almost looking like a leopard Big Grin. It's really expensive to buy

I would really love to have one, it's like having a cat AND a dog at the same time Big Grin

Wow, I've never seen a Maine coon before. That cat is gorgeous. I wonder if they're normally that big, or if that one just eats a lot. My favorite feature is his super fluffy fur.
