LOL...I was going to lean toward affection, but Renee does make a valid point...cats have their own minds. Even individual cats each act differently from each other, just as humans do!
(I think this is why we love them!)
I, too, was "adopted" in love by my husband's cat when we got married last year and they moved in with me. There are days it's too much to be loved like that in my sleep, though....especially when she wants to sleep on my pillow, wrapped around my head. I can tolerate it for a little while then have to get her to snuggle up to her dad.
