Is your pet a service animal?
Does your pet help you in your daily living? Have they been trained to assist you with things you can't do yourself? Tasha 2.0 is my service dog, I also have 2 parrots and a cat that are classified as service animals. Witout them my life would be hell. Tasha has already saved my life multiple times. She is able to alert me before I have a seizure or when my blood sugar is high or low. What can you animal do to help you?

RE: Is your pet a service animal?
The most used service animals are obviously dogs. Many of them are used for blind people. Yes, the most recent trait is to have dogs somehow detect serious illness in the owner before it get critical.

Besides dogs, I have seen monkeys being trained to serve people with disability. A monkey was trained so well that it will act like a maid and do everything short of cooking, then she would lock herself in a cage after everything was done.

I don't see how cats and parrots can be used as service animals. What do they do?

RE: Is your pet a service animal?
I take meds for sleeping so getting up in the am is usually difficult. My cat will walk up and down on me till I get up. Once I'm up she gets fed and she is fine. I know not truly a service animal, but when she spent a couple of nights at the vets I wasn't up till 11 am. Most service animals are indeed dogs, my parrots will tell me to "take your meds" until I do and give them a treat they will remind me every 15 minutes or so.

The ADA laws were recently changed noting that dogs are only considered service animals. I live in Massachusetts where other species are ok, even pets in training to be service animals are given full rights. For me, life without all of this help would be hell. I recently met a woman who uses a miniature horse as a service animal.
