It's 10:30 at night, here in Nevada. I just got off the phone with a woman who was very upset because she lost her dog. I saw her staple her ad on a pole and I called her at 10:00. I told her that I saw her dog yesterday, and I gave her directions as to where he was located. Here is the problem: Her missing poster described the dog as brindle colored. Additionally, she wrote that the dog was Pit/Shepard. When I explained to her that many people are not familiar with the color "brindle." So, I told her that if she is going to write the color brindle, she should also explain what the color means. Additionally, she had a color photo of her dog, but posted a black and white photo. I explained that even though colored photos cost more she would have a better chance of someone being able to identify her dog.
The last problem was that her dog looked like a boxer/pit. When I told her this she said that she knew that people thought her dog looked like a boxer. So then I said, "Well, why don't you put down he looks like a boxer?"
I hope this woman finds her dog. And I really hope she follows my advice. The anguish of losing a pet is horrible. I can only hope she also remembers to post to Craigslist over and over under the pet sections.
