Don’t Forget Our Pets during the Storm
[Image: 2mqw7k6.jpg]

The sounds of thunders fright them so much. How much more if deep waters engulf them. In the Philippines, where I was from typhoons and storms come all year round. Just imagine how many letters are there in the English alphabet. That is the MINIMUM number of typhoons that come across my country. Thus, I’m pretty got used to it since I was born. The same experience my buddies had during their lifetime.
But just like you guys from the other side of the world, we love our pets, in my case my doggies like they were part of our families. Above is a typical example of how we and our pet dogs survive every storm that passes our way. So, next time a storm passes, don't forget your pets, we are their heroes for survival as well as they were heroes to us too in terms of their unconditional loyalty, obedience and bravery.

RE: Don’t Forget Our Pets during the Storm
What a wonderful picture ! You can just see the love and the trust in that dog's eyes as he has his ride through the floodwaters to a safe place on higher ground.
When we had Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans so hard a few years back, many people did not evacuate when the authorities told them they were supposed to leave right away; so they were still there when the hurricane did come through. It struck the city with terrible force, collapsed the sides of the sea-walls that protected the city; since New Orleans is actually below sea level.
The people who did not evacuate were trapped and the water just kept coming up, once the dikes had broken, so that even the roof of the house was not safe. Plus, there is now good way to get out on the roof from most houses when you are inside without being swept away in the flooding water.
Rescue boats and helicopters came to help these people, but they refused to take pets, and many people stayed in the flooded houses and died as a result of this decision.
I think they have made better plans to help rescue the dogs, too, if something like this should happen again.

RE: Don’t Forget Our Pets during the Storm
Storms are a difficult time for dogs, most especially. I keep my dog very close and keep talking to it at such times. He senses my anxiety and that makes him nervous too, but my physical presence reassures him to a large extent. I can see the trust in the dog's eyes in the above picture. It has a lot to do with the fact that he is with someone he loves and trusts.
