RE: Metal Fragments Found by U.S. FDA on Some Pedigree® Dog Food Bags
It seems like there is just a lot of unwanted and dangerous things getting into the dog and cat food in recent years. It makes you wonder how safe that our own packaged food is. Most of the companies that make pet food are also human food manufacturers; and they use the scraps that are left over from our food products to make the pet food.
I have used Pedigree in the past, but not for a long time, and it was usually the canned food when i did buy it. However, these accidents seem to happen in all of the plants, whether it is cheap or expensive dog food. Unless we happen to read about a re-call, it is hard to know what might be in the food or the package, and I imagine that sometimes, it doesn't get found or reported, and our pets just get sick or die, and no one knows what caused it.
About the only way to be safe with food, is to make your own pet food, and not everyone has time, or wants to do that. Plus, some people just think that an animal should only be fed actual pet food that comes from a bag or a can; not even thinking that it is still made from scraps left over from our food products.
