My Dog has Wobblers
My 6-8 year old Doberman Pinscher, Jethro, was recently diagnosed as having Wobblers. This is a neurological disorder caused by compression on the spinal column in his neck. He presents as very clumsy as it causes him to lose control of his limbs. He sometimes falls down or slips and must struggle to get back up. He's a very happy, playful boy despite this and I hate that the neurologist has stated we must restrict his movements so he doesn't further harm himself. He is currently on a steroid to help and we've seen some improvements, but not a great deal. The vet has stated he will not get better, but we can slow the progression of the disease.

Has anyone heard of Wobblers? Has anyone else's pet had this? What treatments did you pursue? What would you do differently know what you know today?

RE: My Dog has Wobblers
Oh this is a terrible thing to have happen to your dog! It is apparently an inherited disease, and Doberman's are one of the breeds that are prone to develop it. Here is an interesting link to Wikipedia about the newest treatments: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wobbler_disease
They can do a disc transplant that gives amazing results! Good luck to you and your baby.
