How many do you take a walk at a time if you are on your own.
I always take all 3 of mine out together,sometimes I will just have 1 offlead,usually 2 and sometimes 3.
Onlead I walk all 3 together without any issues,I might put a headcollar on Craven if we are going to be walking close to other dogs,but he hasn't worn it for months now.
Sometimes I will walk them one at a time,leaving the other 2 in the car but these are only shortish walks of about 1/2 an hour each.
I do get a few comments,the usual ones like you've got your hands full or who's taking who for a walk.But they don't bother me.I'm only 5 foot 2 inches so I probably do look a bit funny with 1 large and 2 medium dogs on a lead.
We just have small dogs, and my Chipper is about eleven years old now; so he barely waddles out the door and around the yard anymore. He has been a house dog all of his life,although he does like to go outside whenever I am out working in the yard or the garden.
When the weather is chilly, or even when it is too hot, both of the dogs spend most of the time inside, and they just go outside when they need to do their chores.
Tootsie is a Blue Heeler cross; but even so, she is pretty laid back and does not need to play or exercise a lot either. I have taken her for walks on a leash sometimes, but we live in a very busy neighborhood, and I worry about her somehow getting off of the leash and getting run over by a car.
Since we have a large fenced-in back yard, we just let the dogs out there to play and exercise on their own when the weather is nice and they can enjoy being outside.
I have three dogs and they all happen to be huge. Having two English Mastiffs and a German Shepard, it makes it hard to take them out all at once. If I were to take them out together, I would end up losing all three of them easily. I've tried taking two at a time and I ended up being dragged throughout the walk due to their strength.
What I usually do for walks is take one dog out a day. My dogs are on rotational walks, but that doesn't mean they won't get exercise every day. I try to go outside once a day and play fetch with the three of them. I'm lucky to have a big yard for them to run and play in. I think if you were to rotate the dogs, giving one to two of them a walk a day you should be fine.
I have two large dogs. One is an Alaskan Malamute and the other is a German Shepherd. I walk both of them at the same time and I do get a lot of looks from people because I'm a small girl walking two large dogs. Sometimes they can be a little too much but that is usually at the beginning of the walk. They are just excited to be out and about. Once we walk a couple of blocks they settle down. The best thing I ever did was buy them harnesses. They are the kind that go across their chests. If they don't have their harnesses on, they pull really bad. Sometimes my husband and I will walk them together and of course that is so much easier than walking them myself. Other than their walks, I have a huge fenced in backyard so they get their daily exercise!
We have rarely exceeded two dogs since we are a small family. They are good company to be with since picking quarrels and petty jealousies inherent in multiple dogs are greatly reduced. It is also easier to monitor their needs that way. However, I would consider multiple dogs for larger compounds. They form a pack and act like good sentries though the incessant howling would fray some nerves at the beginning.
We have 3 dogs and I sometimes bring them along to vacation trips. But it is a big problem in handling 3 dogs so I hired 2 housemaids for that chore. The longest trip we had was a distance of 275 kilometers. We hire a van for the trip so the travel will be quite comfortable for my pets. And the accommodation should provide 1 room for our dogs and our 2 housemaids. That's why it is a big problem when 1 of the housemaids would take a vacation because the 3 dogs needed 3 people to handle them.
