It sounds like it could be eating too fast to me too. My cat used to have this problem, and what I've discovered is if I just lay a bunch of food out for him all the time, he browses at a good pace for himself and doesn't vomit. I used to feed him at regular intervals twice a day, but he still vomited. I think he got hungry overnight and then got overly excited when I presented him with food in the morning, and subsequently ate too fast. This sounds similar in timing to what your cat is doing, so maybe you could try having a big bowl of food out. I'm not a veterinarian, so if you're concerned, it also couldn't hurt to ask your vet.
